Cancellation and refund policy
Scope of this policy
This policy applies to commissioning appointments paid for through Groupe Investigation Québec. It forms part of the booking terms. Mandatory rights under the laws applicable in Quebec remain fully effective and take priority over any less favourable provision of this policy.
Submitting a request
To cancel or reschedule an appointment, email info@groupeinvestigationquebec.com or use the contact form. Include the name and email used for the booking, the booking number and the appointment date. The request is considered received at the date and time it is sent.
At least 24 hours before the appointment
A cancellation requested at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time is eligible for a full refund, including taxes. A rescheduling request made within the same time frame is handled without a fee, subject to available appointment times.
Less than 24 hours before the appointment
For a late cancellation, the technology fee shown at the time of booking and related taxes are retained to cover the reserved time, preparation and costs already incurred, to the extent permitted by law. The amount paid for each oath that will not be administered, along with related taxes, is refunded. Late rescheduling may be offered exceptionally but is not guaranteed.
Late arrival and missed appointments
Clients must be ready at the scheduled time. After a 10-minute grace period without communication, the appointment may be treated as missed. A missed appointment or delay that prevents the service is treated as a late cancellation. When the remaining time permits, the appointment may proceed, but an extension is not guaranteed.
Identity, documents and eligibility
Clients must present valid identification, use a working video connection, keep the document unsigned and confirm that the recipient accepts remote commissioning. If the service cannot be provided because these requirements were not met or the information supplied was incomplete, the late-cancellation rule may apply. If the commissioner cannot legally or reasonably proceed for a reason not attributable to the client, a new appointment or full refund will be offered.
Technical problems or cancellation on our part
If an outage under Groupe Investigation Québec’s control, the commissioner’s absence or another circumstance attributable to the business prevents the appointment, the client may choose a replacement appointment at no charge or a full refund. A problem with the client’s equipment or connection is assessed based on the circumstances and may be subject to the late-cancellation rule.
Completed service
A refund is not normally available after an oath or solemn affirmation has been administered. A recipient’s later refusal of the document does not automatically qualify for a refund because clients must first confirm that the recipient accepts the document and remote method. Any paid oath that was not administered is refunded unless another mandatory rule applies.
Refund processing
An approved refund is returned to the original payment method through Square. It is normally initiated within 5 business days after approval; the financial institution controls when the credit appears. If the law requires a different refund or time limit, the legal requirement applies.
Statutory rights
This policy does not limit any mandatory right, including remedies for distance contracts and the right to resiliate a service contract under applicable law. When a distance contract is legally cancelled, payment must be refunded within the legally required time, including 15 days where that rule applies. Contact us before the appointment with any question so the circumstances can be assessed promptly.
